My inspirations include first and foremostly- the natural world and everything in it. Animals and people inspire me. I've long been a fan of nature, history and travel documentaries where I have had the chance to experience (Not first hand but it was the best I could get when I was ten!)an adventure that I can only hope of ever seeing in real life.

Growing up in Hong Kong was busy. I find thats a good way to sum it up. The throngs of people walking around every day made the area I lived in feel like an agitated ants nest, but each ant preoccupied with their own hectic lives. And I loved it. I needn't feel small in the most densley populated area in the world, for these throngs of people created a buzz in the atmosphere- an energy that cradled elements of the noise of traffic and the smell of food stalls(Not forgetting the usual 34 degree heat and the humidity). Maybe it was the lack of nature I saw in the city or maybe it was me just being a little girl, but I used to dream of somewhere peaceful- my own little world. And I expressed this through drawing.

For a long time, my art has stuck soley to pencil and paper. But since I came to university, I've been discovering each and every corner of my creative ability- lets just say that there aren't many tasks i'd turn down if it involves art! Some of the things i've accomplished for projects and such include model-making, book binding, printing as well as film production. I've loved every minute of learning a new technique and creating something interesting and wonderful. The chance to experience life in a completely new part of the world has opened my eyes to the opportunities that are now within my grasp. Directing my first film, 'Living Wild'(in Other Work), I've shown that i'm more versatile with my skills than I ever imagined and the challenge to direct such a film was alot more fun than I ever imagined. But i've never forgotten Hong Kong. Being away from home has obviously had it's effects. The results have been a line of jewellery and the beginnings of the creation of accessories inspired by Hong Kong. You can find out more at My Love From HK blog.
Thats all I have to say. i'm sure you've read enough and I hope you enjoy my art!
Christine.
